During the two World Wars and more recent conflicts, over 1.7 million British and Commonwealth Servicemen/women  died in the service of their Country:  most of whom were aged between 17 and 24;  which gives even greater emphasis to the words of the Kohima: “For your tomorrow, we gave our today”.   Additionally, as a result of their sacrifice, the Globe  is circled with some 23,000 cemeteries and memorials, where they are rightfully commemorated.

Through this site and the staging of the North Devon Annual Remembrance Concert, held in support of the Army Benevolent Fund and the Royal British Legion, we hope to keep the memory of their ultimate sacrifice alive.

We also recall the wise words of Sir Winston Churchill:

“A Nation that forgets its past, is doomed to repeat it”.

Poor is the nation that has no heroes.

Shameful is the one, that having heroes, forgets them!
